Character encoding
Character encoding refers to prescribed sets of rules used to represent characters on a computer. Motivation Cloud Engagement supports Shift_JIS and UTF-8 character encoding. Because character encoding that does not comply with the PC or software you are using can result in garbled text, please ensure that you are using a compatible system environment.
【Shift_JIS】
Shift_JIS is a commonly used character encoding for the Japanese language. The use of characters not supported by Shift_JIS, such as platform-dependent characters and those used in foreign languages, can result in garbled text. Shift_JIS is commonly used in Windows.
【UTF-8】
UTF-8 is a multilingual character encoding compatible with platform-dependent characters and characters used in foreign languages. It is commonly used in MacOS. Starting with Excel 2016, users are able to designate UTF-8 character encoding when saving files.
When downloading "Organization Settings files" and "Attribute Settings files", you can select from the following two character encodings:
Shift_JIS: Compatible with Japanese
UTF-8: Compatible with Japanese, foreign languages and platform-dependent characters
Note: Using software and character encoding that do not match can result in garbled text.
Note: For Excel files prior to Excel 2013, select Shift_JIS.
